During my seven years of Aikido practice at AAKS I have learned many things. I have greatly enjoyed the experience. Before finding this dojo, I was a student of XYZ Tae kwon do. This particular style focused on graceful and powerful kicks, yet lacked any memorable self defense. In my opinion, in an actual fight, you most likely will not be able to strike anyone of considerable skill with a flying kick. I have found Aikido to be very useful in defending yourself, the techniques make a lot of sense. The more angry and uncontrollable your opponent is, the better the chosen Aikido technique works. Yet there is more to this art than just physical techniques, it also teaches you to focus ki, the natural energy of the universe. Furthermore, I would like to mention the great job Sensei and the instructors at the Dojo have done to make it a comfortable place to learn. All the instructors are very friendly and helpful, I have learned something new during each class.
