Bowing: Bowing in the dojo is not a religious motion, it is a sign of respect and helps set the tone for practice.

If you are late: If you are late, be aware that others are training; do not disturb a class in progress. Sit in seiza at the edge of the mat until you are asked to participate with the class.

Jewelry: Should not be worn during practice, as it may cause injury

Personal Hygiene: Keep yourself neat and clean at all times. Keep finger and toe nails trimmed as short as possible to avoid injuring yourself or others

Do Not Interrupt: Never Interrupt a person during a technique; comments or corrections can be made after the technique is completed.

Learn: Students are here to learn, not to teach (even if they are instructing that class). Even the instructor is learning while demonstrating techniques to the class.

Do Not Compete: All students are on the mat to learn, not to compete with one another. The only one with whom you must be better than, when you leave the mat, is yourself.

Respect: Always maintain an attitude of respect, both on and off the mat.
